"I converted to Christianity in 2022. Because of this, my children and I were abused, threatened, and harassed by my own people, husband, and family."

Refugees Undergoing Trauma and Hardship
Reference: 210-10
Ruth* is a single mother of three, caring for her children while living as a refugee. She left Islam to follow Christianity in a hostile country, risking her life for her faith.
After her conversion, her husband threatened to kill her for the ‘dishonour’ she brought to their family. In 2022, she fled with her children to Pakistan and has been on the run every since, relying on the support of others to survive.
We were privileged to meet Ruth in 2022. Her story left us humbled and inspired. Despite immense challenges, she continues to care for her children, live faithfully, and serve the Lord with courage and devotion. She is the woman who has inspired this appeal.
In a world where the displacement crisis only continues to increase in urgency, single women and children are amongst the most vulnerable.
They face discrimination, ostracisation, and trauma, often without male support or protection. Time and time again, we meet women whose courage reminds us of the biblical Ruth – resilient, faithful, and steadfast, even in the hardest circumstances.
"We have no legal documents, and we cannot work. We daily face different challenges to survive. But we believe our greatest support is Jesus, we are still alive by God's miracle and blessing. We go to church secretly, have our faith in our Saviour, and surrender our lives to Him alone."
Ruth, 2024.
Many like Ruth are widowed or fleeing abusive marriages, seeking safety, refuge, and the change to rebuild their lives. Despite everything, they remain hopeful and determined to care for their families. To read more stories like Ruth’s*, see here.
