Adrian and Sherene Wi are from Canada and have spent more than two decades serving communities affected by trauma and displacement around the world.
From 2003 to 2017, they lived and worked in Gulu and Soroti, Uganda, where they focused on adapting trauma care tools to be culturally meaningful within Acholi and Tesso communities. During this time, they helped equip local caregivers supporting survivors of the Lord’s Resistance Army conflict.
Between 2003 and 2020, they also served in British Columbia and Ontario, Canada; Alaska, USA; and Hualien, Taiwan. Their work centered on developing culturally responsive trauma care approaches for First Nations communities, including training caregivers supporting survivors of the Indian Residential School system.
They later served in Nunavik, Canada, with the Aaqitauvik Healing Centre, adapting trauma care tools for Inuit communities and training caregivers supporting survivors of historical and intergenerational trauma.
Since 2020, together with their team, Adrian and Sherene have served across Australia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Malaysia, Türkiye, Tajikistan, and the United States. They partner with grassroots organisations supporting Afghan, Iranian, Ukrainian, Yemeni, Sudanese, Somali, Rohingya, and Pakistani refugees, providing trauma care workshops in transit cities, refugee camps, and resettlement communities for both displaced families and frontline service providers.
